The top South African BMX rider Sifiso Nhlapo returned to his home country yesterday after qualifying for London’s Olympic Games. His qualification was thanks to his semi final result in the BMX World Champhionship in Birmingham recently.

The unlucky Nhlapso who crashed again in the semi finals in Birmingham is after crashes and injuries back on track. Nhlapo received a hero’s welcome at the OR Tambo International Airport as he returned.

“It has been a really tough four years for me, I have had quite a number of injuries but I finally managed to get the job done. I am just happy to be going, and obviously I will be working very hard over the next few months to make sure that I will be able to do what I have to do,” said Nhlapo.

Nicknamed ‘Skizo105’ reached the final in the Beijing Olympics four years ago.
