The agricultural sector in Ivory Coast has to be well developed.

The ministry of Agriculture invests more on the agricultural sector in the country after the general crisis. The advisory committee at the ministry of agriculture was on the 13 of March 2009 at Bouaké to give a considerable financial support to farmers especially in the rice sector

More than 800.000francs was given to the farmers association of Bouaké which open it doors since the 1st of May 2008. Justifying the assistance to the local farmers, the minister, Mr Jean Claude Kouassi spook much for the fact that , these is almost-total close-up of industrial and commercial enterprises of Bouaké leading to a very high level of unemployment  in that region of the country “ we now have only our parents on the agricultural sector” he added. The minister made this remark almost in tears but nevertheless, he assured the population that he was very much engage in helping them in all income generating activities within the area, while waiting to look for solution for these enterprises which have closed-up. In order to do this, he called on solidarity and unity between the farmers. As he said, “our greatest wish is that, we all put our hands together to reawaken the economy of Bouaké. Just after the ministers’ speech, the president of the farmers association of Bouaké rendered a vibrating homage to one of the elites of the area Mr Kouame Konan N’sikan for his assistance to the local population, ever since the beginning of the crisis in Ivory Coast.
